Born in the Netherlands Kjeld Duits has
lived and worked in Japan since 1982.
Duits writes for approximately twenty
daily newspapers. Organizations like Associated Press and Australia's
Herald Sun have carried his work and he has worked on TV and
radio programs, for, amongst others, the BBC and NHK. On Japanese
TV he appears as a 'guest reporter'. Over the years he has covered
major news stories like the Ibaraki nucleur accident and the
Taiwan and Indian Earthquakes.

Kjeld Duits is also active as producer
and organizer. He was for example the Olympic Attaché
for the Dutch and Belgian Olympic Committees during the 1998
Winter games in Nagano.
Duits is a member of various advisory
committees of the Hyogo Prefectural Government and has also been
a juror for the International Emmy Awards and the Osaka European
Film Festival.
Several books about the Kobe Quake have
used his photographs. They have also been displayed at expositions
in Japan, the UK, the Netherlands, Greece and Singapore. Six
awards have been awarded for his photographic work, especially
for documenting Japanese folk-festivals or matsuri
